There’s plenty of time before Super Bowl LV (February 7, 2021)
What a beautiful thought. Thank you, Marlee Matlin. Not everyone will know that American Sign Language (ASL) is a complete, natural language that has the same linguistic properties as spoken languages, with grammar that differs from English. ASL is expressed by movements of the hands and face. It is the primary language of many North Americans who are D/deaf and hard of hearing and is used by many hearing people as well.
In this video Marlee Matlin is signing: “To ALL networks: the next time at the #SuperBowl when the signer like Chris Sun Kim performs the National Anthem and America The Beautiful they should visible on the broadcast the WHOLE time not just a few seconds. SHOW the beauty of ASL, either in a bubble, split-screen or next to the signer. It’s TIME!”
