Vicky Emerson is a hearing military brat (USAF-retired), a military spouse (USN-retired) and has been married for 26 years to her high school sweetheart. She is the mother of four hearing children and a Southeast Ohio transplant from the New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mississippi Gulf Coast areas. Vicky’s interpreting education started formally at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, LA. She considers herself a lifelong learner and a heartfelt partner with the d/Deaf, DB, ITP students and interpreter communities. She has worked as a freelance/private practice interpreter since 1999, with over 20 years of experience in various settings, including Deaf/Hearing teams, DeafBlind/SSP, medical/trauma, mental health/trauma/addiction, military/government, religious, technical/stem, VRI, mentoring, internships, conferences/performance work, vocal rehab and educational interpreting. Her door is always open to those seeking guidance, mentorship or a sounding board.
