Governor Mike DeWine announced the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Safety Office (OTSO), Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), and statewide law enforcement partners have developed a new communication card to help individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing exchange information with law enforcement.
The new communication card can help individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing exchange information with law enforcement. The new 4.25 x 11 inch card fits above a car’s visor for use at traffic stops and other encounters with law enforcement when effective communication is crucial.
The statewide card will replace the patchwork approach that has long challenged deaf or hard-of-hearing drivers who regularly navigate municipal, county, and state jurisdictions.
We have a limited supply of communication cards at our 2825 Burnet Avenue office (Suite 330) or you can download a card and get more information by navigating to to the State website at bit.ly/OhioCommCard.
